CantennaConclusion
So what did we find with this experiment? Well, we used [Netstumbler|http://www.netstumbler.com] under Windows XP on the laptop to measure signal strength. Unfortunately, that program was pretty sensitive and crashed a few times. Other times it would just stop displaying data. We were able to demonstrate an improvement in the signal strength when the can was pointed at the laptop versus when the AP was using only it's standard rubber duck antennas. I'm not going to give any exact numbers because our test setup was so erratic. Suffice it to say that the can does work. The next part of this test would be to try and create a long distance (several mile) link using cantennas. We didn't get that far before I moved to New York, so this experiment will be forever unfinished. Still, I hope you enjoy the pictures. Most importantly, JJ and I had a great time that afternoon in Redwood City. Thanks, JJ. Oh, and after the experiments we powered up some more: <?plugin IncludePhoto file="CantennaPowerSupply.jpg"?> That's all for the experiment, back to the [beginning|CantennaExperiment].
