Kevin Higinbotham and R in Kevin's studio, circa 1998?
His studio was in a converted grain elevator. The tower was made of 2x12 boards, stacked on the flat sides all the way up. That's a tremondously solid pile of wood. At the bottom of the elevator there was a 3 inch deep groove in the solid wooden wall when years of grain had just worn it away to a beautifully smooth finish.
