Philipsburg is actually far enough off the beaten path that it hasn't been covered with nasty strip malls and !McDonalds. Instead, the town leaders have very smartly kept the original mining town intact.

version 2

Another historic mining town near Gold Creek and Jens - Philipsburg.

Philipsburg is actually far enough off the beaten path that it hasn't been covered with nasty strip malls and !McDonalds. Instead, the town leaders have very smartly kept the original mining town intact.

I wonder why this building says Golden Rule on it?

Philipsburg was involved primarily in silver mining. I suggest the Richard Hugo poem Degrees of Gray in Philipsburg for a thoughtful view of this town.
