PointReyesLighthouseRock
An interesting sandstone formation on the path down to the lighthouse. <?plugin IncludePhoto?> It's difficult to express in pictures how remote Point Reyes really is (despite being just an hour's drive from San Francisco). Once you get to the lighthouse, you are in the middle of nowhere. For example, there's no fresh water at the lighthouse (no streams or creeks). There's an elaborate cistern system above the lighthouse with a large concrete basin designed to catch as much rainwater as possible. Even today, the lighthouse has to be largely self-sufficient. Of course, that's easier now that no one has to run it any more. [forward|PointReyesLighthouseInside]
