HpBiofeedbackCard
I currently (late 2002) work as a contractor at HP (I need a new Job!).
Anyway, tons of people have been axed over the last few months as the HPaq merger behemoth lumbers along. This means there are lots of empty cubes strewn with random bits of personal effects too unimportant to take home on that final day.
One item I fould was the official HP Biofeedback Card. It's a regular plastic credit card with a little black touch sensor on it:
Some of the people that got the pink slip had been working there for 20 years or more! That's why this little gem is from 1983 (see the copyright on the back).
My roommate asked if the card was a joke when he saw it. That got me thinking, and I was unable to come up with an answer. The card is written in a serious manner, with no real hint of sarcasm. However, it always comes out black, no matter who tries it. While that could just be because the little lcd-material touch sensor is dead from old age, perhaps instead it is a sly comment on the stress inherent in today's workplace.
What a funny little piece of company history.
