Know thy enemy.
I was once an avid vi user. To prove it, here's my .vimrc
Check out Ken Bowen's site for much good vi info. Ken used to be a vi user, but I've got him switched to emacs now too.
ANOTHER PERSPECTIVE: As a person who uses vi exclusively, I hereby declare that emacs is a superior editor. Sure, you can do it all with vi, but who does and why? "When all you've got is a hammer, everything looks like a nail."
