I stopped by and took a few pictures the next day.

The remains of the church were bulldozed down a few weeks later. As of now (late 2001) the lot where the church sat is still empty.

Arson was suspected, but I never read in the papers if it was proven. The church was one of the oldest large structures in town, built in the early 1920s (remember that buildings have a habit of falling down in earthquakes here).
